weight (2025)
black-and-white analogue photography, graphics, riso-printed
weight is my take on a Gregorian wall calendar. It logs an undefined period of 12 months between 2024 and 2025, moving through Mexico City; Richmond, VA; Hydra, Greece; Los Angeles; Sintra and Lisbon; and New York. As global violence escalated, I experienced it as a heavy, grainy, grey mass in the air, and started shooting in black-and-white only. I was searching for a way to reproduce the image of someone I love and keep record in a way that feels precious, feeling the need to protect them from getting lost in the excess of image overload. weight synthesizes the urge to disappear and escape overexposure with the urge to keep a record, visualising a search for an experience of time that feels expansive, private and slow.
