in roads / tiet, I weave my nomadic and stationary maternal lineages with my personal history and hold impermanence as both pain and relief.

roads / tiet is a commissioned text for Kuin kotonaan / Feels Like Home, the catalogue accompanying Kiasma's collection exhibition of the same name (A Museum of Contemporary Art Publication 180 / 2024). The exhibition draws on the collections of the Finnish National Gallery to explore themes of home and belonging, how home can be a physical place, a community, a language, or a state of mind, and how that sense of home is lost, carried, or reimagined across generations. An audio version of the text, read by Noora Dadu, was also presented in the exhibition space. The catalogue was curated by Saara Hacklin, Satu Oksanen, and Saara Karhunen.
